Housing sales in Turkey increased by 20.6% in March
Housing sales in the January-March period increased by 21.7% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 320,063. In March, mortgage-based housing sales in Turkey increased by 38.8% compared to the same month of the previous year, totaling 30,271. The share of mortgage sales in total housing sales was 22.6%. Other housing sales in Turkey increased by 16.2% in March, reaching 103,899, and the share of these sales in total housing sales was 77.4%. The number of first-hand housing sales in Turkey increased by 14.9% in March compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 38,337, with the share of first-hand sales in total housing sales standing at 28.6%. Second-hand housing sales increased by 23.1% in March compared to the same month last year, reaching 95,833, with second-hand sales making up 71.4% of total housing sales. Housing sales to foreigners increased by 31% in March compared to the same month of the previous year, totaling 5,567. The share of housing sales to foreigners in total housing sales was 4.1%. The city with the highest number of sales to foreigners was Istanbul, with 2,245 units sold, followed by Antalya with 1,434 units and Ankara with 347 units. In the January-March period, housing sales to foreigners increased by 45.1% compared to the same period last year, reaching 14,344. In March, Iranian citizens purchased 784 homes in Turkey, followed by Iraqis with 741 homes and Russians with 547 homes.
